Pawling Playback: Wednesday's 430-530pm

Videography & Filmmaking

Intro to video production and documentary filmmaking is an entry-level mediamaking course that is taken daily or biweekly and an introduction to basic video production, editing software, and personal interest research. The goal of the course is for students to develop the ability to capture video images, lighting, and sound to be able and edit those three elements together to tell a story. During the course each student will be taught: the basic understanding of operating a video camera, the basic principles of how to capture great video and audio,  and how to edit audio and video. Course lessons will feature exercises in oral history and interview techniques, camerawork, field-sound recording, and music research, specialized editing assignments, and a final project. We are a field trip heavy course that gets students out of the classroom and into their community. This course can be a great additional elective to pair with any course that you could anticipate making video productions. Create social change and tell your story through the power of film.
