PSAT - October 2020

The PSAT/NMSQT is a standardized test that 11th graders (and some 10th graders) take in October. Like the SAT, it measures the knowledge and skills in reading, writing, and math students learn in the classroom—the same knowledge and skills your child needs to succeed in college and career." Only sharpened #2 pencils and a charged calculator can be brought into the test room as well as a clear water bottle with no label. Any other belongings will need to be left in the hallway and not be accessed until the test is over... for more information click https://parents.collegeboard.org/college-board-programs/psat-nmsqt

Fall Athletics

We hope you and your family are doing well and experiencing a great start to the school year! It has been a challenging time navigating the best and safest way to reopening interscholastic athletics; however, I know we have made plans that reflect our highest priority, which is the health and safety of our children and keeping our children in school as this aligns with the Pawling CSD Reopening Plan.

Sport is an essential component of the educational experience of our students and as a result, we will move forward with phasing in our fall sport programs with skills, drills and conditioning. Our decisions have been predicated on the directives of the New York State Governor’s Office and the specific guidance provided by the New York State Education Department, Department of Health and the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA).

The sports we will offer skills/drills and conditioning for are:

Varsity/JV Level Athletics (Grades 9-12)

Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Field Hockey, Flag Football, Tennis, Cross Country and Dance. (Volleyball skills is still in discussion.)

As a means to maintain fluency with the educational “Hybrid” model at Pawling High School, our athletic programs will reflect daily cohorts of student athletes who will have the opportunity to practice on the days they have “In-person” learning.  For example, if a student is in school on “ACE” days, he/she will attend after school practices on “ACE” days. There will be a student athlete meeting held after school in the gym (social distanced) on September 29th, for the “BDF” cohort, and September 30th for the “ACE” cohort. This meeting is to review the new normal regarding procedures and communication methods such as schedules and Sportsyou.

Important Dates to Know:

  • Family ID for Grades 9-12 Opens                    September 23rd

We look forward to working with our athletes in the immediate future!
